’Strongly Gentle’ a ceramic head sculpture
Strongly Gentle is a ceramic figurative sculpture incorporating a rectangular base.
I have always liked roaming around graveyards, reading about the residents. I used to live right next door to one when I was young, my bedroom window looked out over the headstones. I spent many hours at night watching over the stones desperately wanting to see ghosts but sadly to no avail.
Inspired by an epitaph where a man was described as being ‘strongly gentle’ I wondered if that was possible to portray.
So here he is, his strong muscular features are accentuated by the shiny metallic glaze but his gaze offers up a gentle concern.
